Infection in nose and eye.

It certainly does sound like Bear has an infection. The most common reason for an infection affecting the eye and the nose would be a carnassial tooth abscess. The carnassial tooth is the big chewing tooth on the upper jaw. Unfortunately, if this is what the problem is, then it is not going to go away until the tooth is surgically removed.

Another possibility is if there is a tumor affecting the inside of the nose. Hopefully this is not the case as there would not be a whole lot that could be done. Antibiotics could help temporarily but would not be a lasting solution.

A fungal infection is a possibility as well and if this is the case, then antibiotics will not be that helpful.

Questions like this are difficult for me to answer because I can't legally advise on dosing medications. I would tell you that Penicillin G is not something that I would likely use for an infection like this. It's probably not going to be helpful to give this injection.

I really can't think of an at-home treatment that is going to work here. Unfortunately this is a case that really does need to see a vet.

From what you are describing, a fungal infection certainly is a possibility. Any anti-fungal medication, however would be a prescription medication and as such legally has to be prescribed by a vet who has physically examined Bear.

Unfortunately I can't see any way that Bear can be treated without a veterinary visit.

The vet will do a good thorough exam and may do a culture of a nasal swab to determine if there is a fungal infection or a bacterial infection. A bacterial infection in the nose is pretty uncommon though unless there was some sort of underlying cause like a foreign object up there or a tumor of some sort.

Fungal infections are more common in certain areas, so your local vet will know whether this is something that is commonly seen in your area.

Again, I wish I could help you find a way to treat this at home, but there is not much that I can recommend without a veterinary visit here.
