Yellow fluid from nose.

Sorry to hear about your ordeal. It sounds like this was a scary situation!

I can think of a few possible reasons for the fluid. Sometimes, if an animal is choking, the lungs can produce fluid and yes, this fluid can come up through the nose. If this is what happened, then really he should just continue to improve and should be just fine.

Yellow fluid from the nose could be a sign of infection. It is possible that Yat Gor aspirated some apple which means that some of it went into his lungs. However, this seems less likely for a couple of reasons. First, infection would take a couple of days to set in. And secondly, he would be acting much more sick and probably wouldn't want to be eating.

It's also possible that there is a problem with one of his teeth. If there is a tooth root infection this can cause yellow pus to come out of the nose. It would be a strange coincidence for this to start happening immediately after the apple though.

As long as your dog is eating well and acting fine then I wouldn't be too worried. Here are some things to look for:

-a lot of coughing
-difficulty breathing
-lack of appetite

If you see those things then I would take him in right away.

It really sounds like he is doing well.

When I mentioned that he could have aspirated some apple into his lungs, this is just a possibility, meaning that it could have happened, but I am guessing that it did not happen. The reason why I think that it did not happen is because if it did he would probably be coughing a lot and not eating. If that starts happening then I would see your vet and they will likely take another xray to see if there are signs of aspiration pneumonia.

I am guessing that the fluid may last another day or two but it's hard to say.

Hmmm...I am having trouble connecting the shaking back legs with his other symptoms. The only thing I can think of that could connect yellow fluid from the nose and shaky back legs would be some type of a heart problem. But, if this was the case you should be noticing some coughing. Also, it would be hard to connect this with the apple incident.

If the legs get more wobbly then I would take him back to see the vet and ask the vet to check his heart.

Pugs can be prone to back problems and this can cause wobbly legs. Back problems can be very serious. If you feel that the legs are getting significantly more wobbly then I would take him in right away. In the meantime, just in case there is a back problem I would be careful not to let him jump or do stairs if possible.

Now what you are describing sounds like either a dental infection or an infection in the nose. It is possible that some of the apple made its way into his nasal cavity and is causing problems. Or, it may be that the apple wasn't the cause of the problems after all. Maybe he had a dental infection all along.

Because you are seeing blood and pus I would recommend that you call your vet and perhaps see him or her again. The antibiotics that were given may not be the right type if this is actually a dental infection. If you are noticing a bad smell there is a good chance that there is some infection present that is not clearing up.
