Bil-Jac is recalling bags of Adult Select Formula because they have had a few reports of mold in the food. Compared to some of the recalls we have had in the past, this seems like a fairly mild one. The recall only affects batch number 1792-02 with an expiration date of 27 DEC 2013.
In most cases, mold in dog food will make the food taste “off” to dogs. However, some dogs will still eat mouldy food. You may notice some mild intestinal upset such as vomiting, diarrhea or lack of appetite. There are some types of mold that can actually make dogs very sick. If a mold contains mycotoxins then this can cause more serious neurological issues such as seizures.
If you feel that your dog has been affected by eating food from this batch of Bil-Jac that possibly contains mold, please leave a comment below. Your comments can really help others who are searching for information.
I bought a bag and I just check the date because I stopped using it because I thought it smelled funny. Now I see this. But exp date is feb 2014. It smells like vinegar sort of.
