I have heard that Diamond also makes Kirkland food sold at Costco as well as Taste of the Wild food. Is there a recall on these dogs foods?

    1. DrMarie says:

So far, no recall has been announced for either Kirkland dog food or Taste of the Wild. Diamond pet food is a very large company. The recall so far just affects the five lots mentioned above. It is unlikely that other foods are affected.

I have been feeding my dog Kirkland dry dog food for years. This last bag of Mature Dog Chicken, Rice & Egg formula smelled different as soon as I opened it. I just thought they might have changed the formula. My 100 pound dog was apparently eating it as a last resort…he turned up his nose again and again. He has not eaten in 3 days now after almost a month of choking down the Kirkland Dog food.
Thank you for posting this information before we lost our precious Buster!

  2. Edie Taylor says:

We have fed our English Setter Kirkland canned lamb and rice AND chicken and rice for the past 2 years with absolutely no problems. He must run about 40 miles a day in our backyard and he is healthy, not at all overweight and extremely happy. I am VERY concerned about the viral email circulating about the food and the effect it has (alledgedly) had on some animals. Please keep us abreast of any additional information regarding this product.

Is the Lamb and rice puppy part of the recall

  4. Juliet Balian says:

I feed my dog Kirkland Dry Lamb and Rice and he has been throwing up. After a thorough check by the vet and a $600 bill, nothing specific was found. I suspect its the food because he is fine when he’s on Hill Science ID food.

I bought the 40# bag of Kirkland Lamb & Rice about two weeks ago from COSTCO. I emptied in with other dry dog food I had, which I guess is now also contaminated I have a 50# golden retriever collie mix that that was a rescue dog raised on table scraps from what I was told, he eats most anything but didn’t want to eat this last bag I bought, he finally did, his stool is softer and he is eating a lot of grass that he normally doesn’t eat. Now when I let him in the backyard he starts eating the grass right away instead of running around, he doesn’t have the energy he had prior to eating this. After reading about so many dogs getting sick and some having to be put down I am very concerned. I just dumped his bowl of food. I had thrown away the bag as I out in a bin. I understand that COSTCO will take it back, it was very costly but I threw my receipt away, but I am going to bag it up anyway in a plastic bag and return it regardless. You can’t trust anything anymore. I am very concerned about my dog right now as he is just laying around with no energy. I wish they would have came out with a notice a few weeks earlier.

  6. Molly says:

One of my dogs was recently very ill (mid-March). She was vomitting and had diarrhea which turned bloody and wasn’t eating. We took her to the vet the morning after the bloody diarrhea started and the vet could find nothing wrong, so he diagnosed her with colitis and gave us sulfalizine to give her until she got better. About 5 days before she became ill we started giving the dogs Diamond Lamb and Rice (normally give them Chicken and Rice, but the store was out). Since we have fed them this food before with no issues the vet ruled it out. The food has since been finished and no way to check if it was part of the recall, but given her symptoms and the timing with the new food I believe we had a recalled bag. Fortunately she is all better now and only one of the two dogs got sick, but it wasn’t a fun week while she was recovering.

Help! New (September 21/2012) problem with 40# diamond lamb meal rice formula adult dog is bad. My dog has been so sick I couldn’t figure it out. Diarrhea, throwing up. Eating grass like a horse. She’s been on this food for two years and I thought it was a gift from god, as she was not allergic to it. Her coat came back nice and shiny, but now just in one week of this new bag she is bleeding through her entire body of skin. No energy, So sickly looking, I don’t know what to do? But this batch of food must be removed from store shelves. Purchased at tractor supply I think, or central tractor? A friend picked it up for me. Any help, or ideas would be great.
