Arthur Dogswell LLC has just announced a voluntary recall of VitaKitty Chicken Breast with flaxseed and vitamins. So far, no animals have been reported sick because of this food, but the concern is that the food contains too much of an ingredient called Propylene Glycol.
High levels of Propylene Glycol can affect a cat’s red blood cells. For more information on exactly why propylene glycol is not allowed to be found at any level in cat foods, see this article:
This recall affects the following lots: SEW12CH032701/03c and SEW12CH032702/03c with a best before date of 09/10/13 and 09/11/13, respectively (UPC code 8 84244 00057 2).
For more information see the official FDA recall.
