Pedigree recall due to pieces of plastic!

Pedigree pet foods has announced a recall on three types of weight management canned foods.  There potentially pieces of plastic in the food!  This happened because pieces of blue plastic broke off of a conveyor belt in the factory.  The plastic bits are not poisonous but could possibly pose a choking risk.

What foods are affected?

The recall affects cans of food that look like this:  (Click to see an enlarged photo).

The recalled foods include:

• Pedigree Healthy Weight Premium Ground Entree in Meaty Juices
• Pedigree Weight Management Meaty Ground Dinner Beef and Liver Dinner in Meaty Juices
• Pedigree Weight Management Meaty Ground Dinner Chicken and Rice Dinner in Meaty Juices

Does the recall affect Pedigree foods distributed in Canada?

According to the Pedigree.com website, this recall only affects foods distributed in the United States.  Therefore, if you bought your food in Canada it is safe.
